2003 Winter issue Kikan S magazine

Ok... HAD to buy this! From the sounds of the auction description there's a "photo shoot" of Junko Mizuno's bad girl vinyl toy "SHIORI" (*from Mizuno's MIZNOTIC FANTASY line*) in the mag! It's from back in 2003. I should receive it from Japan in a few weeks. Neat! I'm sure the mag is in Japanese text only... *shrugs* lol

Junko Mizuno original paintings ''Kappa's" arrived!

I am SO HAPPY to own these...

I can only imagine what these would have looked like in person @ Moshi-Moshi... 30 of them together plus the 3 larger "Lady" Kappa paintings... Wish I could have made it!

I can't believe how amazing they are in person... between the iridescent glitter on their head pieces and the gold flecking in the traditional Japanese papers... you are simply in awe in their presence. WOW!

Here are the 2 that I actually own...
-Mina with guts (*image was used in promotional flyers/posters for the exhibit*)
-Miyo with a brain flower

Junko Mizuno solo art exhibit "The Kappa Show" July/08

Got up nice and early today to order my final piece that I will be buying from Moshi-Moshi gallery. Junko Mizuno is having a solo exhibit there for the month of July called "The Kappa Show".

If you haven't checked it out... make sure to drop in their website

http://www.moshi-moshi.com/

I won't be posting what I bought just yet. I think I'll do the unveiling when they arrive safe & sound at my house.

Also, I just love what MZN news website says about how Mizuno was able to make these original paintings and touched the subject of Kappa's in Japanese folklore.

:::smiles:::

This is what MZN news had to say about the creation of Mizuno's Kappa babies!

"Some of our friends asked us how Mizuno managed to hand-paint all the thirty small "Kappa Baby" pieces. So we decided to reveal the secret here.
(1) She did the sketches of the babies and items first. (upper left photo)
(2) Then she made templates out of tracing paper (upper middle) and traced the outlines in pencil on the Japanese paper prepared with texture gel...
(3) and painted all of them with acrylic."

and now onto their info they post on what a Kappa is... lol

"What is "Kappa" ?
"Kappa" are water sprites in Japanese folklore, often depicted as tortoise-like humanoids with green skin, beaked faces and shells on their backs. A cavity on the top of their heads is filled with water and is said to be their vulnerable spot - when it's dry, they lose their energy and power. Kappa appear in a
lot of Japanese comics, animation, TV commercials, etc. They are loved by people as a cute character despite the fact that they are rumored to drag humans into the water and pull out their guts through their anuses."

2003 signed Cinderalla poster

This Cinderalla Poster was signed by the wonderful JUNKO MIZUNO
at the San Diego Comic Convention five years ago back in July of 2003.

Junko signed it in the lower right corner, along with one of her trademark Illustrations. Junko placed a 3"x5" sheet of paper in between the folds so that the ink would not smear, this original paper was included.

It measures approximately 24" x 36" and was printed on nice and crisp paper stock.

I know the poster came all folded up... but maybe we can get it professional mounted and framed ::smiles::

Junko Mizuno Japanarama Butterfly Geisha

I can not believe that I found this... and at such a bargain price too! I've been longing for a tattoo of this character by Mizuno from her JAPANARAMA episode interview with the BBC. The artwork also appears in her "Collector File: 02 Junko Mizuno" but unfortunately the image is folded onto 2 pages and gets lost in the crease... and would be rough to copy the image perfectly. Plus the only images on the internet that I've found are super mini and would never help me out on my mission...

WEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLL... I found one of her MIGHTY FINE Clothing Line tunic shirts with the print on it. The shirt design itself is horrid so maybe one day I can make a pillow out of it. Plus the fact that it's a girls medium would make it into a baby doll T-shirt on me. LMAO... BUT the image of the Geisha is HUGE and is going to be such a help in my quest for ink! YEAH!!!

Here's a pic of the new shirt. :::smiles:::

The Life of Momongo: artwork by Junko Mizuno

I went ahead and bought this book just because Mizuno did art for one of the stories.

:::smiles:::

Japanese title: Momongo no Isshō

Story: Norimizu Ameya
Art: Junko Mizuno

1998 (single chapter in Comic Cue vol. 4 by Tori Miki and Kyogoku Natsuhiko )
Special colaboration by the cartoonist Tori Miki and the mystery author Kyogoku Natsuhiko.

Story is only 24 pages

Publisher: East Press

In one of her older strips; The Life of Momongo, our eponymous heroine, is born into an over-populated future world riven by famine. But fortunately, she just happens to be a 'human insect' with the ability to mate with any organism and incorporate its genes. So, aware that jellyfish adapt by physically shrinking when they run out of food, canny Momongo ensures her survival by mating with just such a multi-tentacled beast.

2002 Collector File 002: Junko Mizuno

I feel SO very lucky to finally own this book. It's a tough one to find. Seems like it's never available anywhere! I found one on EBAY that had no picture of it and the seller didn't seem motivated to promote his auction. I took a risk hoping it was indeed the rare monster... and it was indeed! YEAH!

Alot going on...

Ok so it was a tough month. My car got robbed of some of it's parts while I had it parked at work. When I came back to pick up my car... I saw a bunch of pieces of my car laying on the ground underneath it. JOY!!!! So I call my insurance and it's not covered, so it was all out of pocket expense. Meanwhile I could have had this covered for only $90.00 more for every 6 months of my insurance contract. NICE!

So I'm over that now... and getting along nicely. I did have to sell my rarest *FANTASY* figures, but one day I'll find more! Got to stay positive! lol

Now that things are back on track I decided to give myself a treat and finish off my collection from Mizuno's *SUCCUBUS* prints. I bought the Vampire Bats Succubus & the Nurse Succubus. So now I own all 4 limited edition prints! SWEET!

Anywho... here's the details on them! Hope everyone out there is doing well.

Junko Mizuno 2002 autograph!!!

WOW! I can't believe this! It turned out to be on a high grade cardstock with gold edging and stunning gold flecked art paper on it's back. This was from SuperFestival 24 in Japan 2002 where Mizuno was IN PERSON for this famous Model & Toy show. Her autograph is HUGE!!! I simply must get this framed. It also came with 3 mint promotional post cards for her upcoming art book of *Fairies* that was up for release in 2003.

I also went ahead and found this book "FAIRIE ENCYCLOPEDIA" and purchased it... the artwork of the Fairies is STUNNING!!! Each night this man is visited by all these different types of fairies... until finally one night he becomes one himself. It's all in Japanese text, but you get the idea of what's going on from the images in the book. STUNNING ARTWORK!!! Another cool thing is that the Fairie book came with a promotional post card of her 3 Miznotic figures SHIORI, CHIKA, and FUMI! NEAT!!!

Beast Tamer Succubus Ltd. edition print

Ok... so I couldn't shell out the 4 grand for the real painting! But I was so excited that she opted to produce 50 limited edition prints. They are signed and numbered. Mine is #10... :::does happy dance:::

I just got it back from having it professionally framed. So neat!

It's in my spare bedroom above the day bed. Glad I got the glare free glass and various upgrades. It's definately deserving!

2006 Darkest Horror of Morella

Mizuno participates in Glenn Danzig's comic world. This time it's Morella! I adore the cover she designed. So much detail in person, her design makes me think of the *CHIKA NIGHT* figure.

Happy Day!

2005 Chika Fantasy Night Coaster Set

These were WAY too adorable & dark to pass up! I should have bought 2 sets, one for my coffee table to actually use... and one for my collection. Damn! lol... Well, I can always go back and get more. Hopefully!

Publisher: Dark Horse

Released: April 13, 2005

4 full color coasters, 1/8" thick, packaged in a printed circular tin case

From Junko Mizuno, creator of the "Miznotic Fantasy" and "Hellbabies" stationery sets and journal, it's the "Chika Fantasy Night" coaster set. Junko's beautifully colored illustrations have received great acclaim in recent years for her cute, yet dark manga style. Included in the tin with the coasters is a drink recipe book which includes concoctions such as the horrifyingly delicious Blood of Chika (Junko's Bloody Mary recipe) and Peach Night. Have your drinks and try new recipes too!

2003 Miznotic NIGHT FANTASY figures

These I simply must post!!! These were my first to get of the *FANTASY* form Junko Mizuno figures. I believe they are the 2nd edition/version of the them, which FEWTURE/ART STORM INC. came out with in 2003. The *FANTASY* figures are quite odd! They mimic the S-D (*SUPER DEFORMED*) cartoon anime image, which tend to be dramatic and over exaggerate ones features. A mix of CHIBI (*BABY*) ALIEN, a swirl of Japanese culture, a touch of 70's DOE-EYED bathroom paintings, and then a sip on whatever "FANTASY" drink that these's babies are toting around in their bottles! Talk about trippy! Did I mention that they are wearing wigs to hide their *FANTASY* plates on their heads? The plates are a plastic flame plate ontop of their foreheads that are translucent. CRAZY!!! LOL... I adore them!

8" Dokuro-san, a box of Kawaii Noir goodness! 12/30/07

This product was made by ART STORM CO. LTD in 2003 for the *MIZUNO FRIENDS* designer collection. Cute and a little bit creepy, Dokuro-san is one of Junko Mizuno's most famous characters! It even comes with a special Junko's mark (bunny skull & cross bones) metal pendant!

This character was first seen in her MIZNOTIC FANTASY series along side her character SHIORI. It is made of faux leather materials and has movable head, arms and legs!!! These are beyond cute! They kinda got the Storm Trooper feel to the them. Like the *NIGHT FANTASY* figures, these too are rather S-D (*Super-Deformed*) in design. Big heads with lil bodies!

The box is AMAZING!!! Super trippy graphics... bunches of lil' Dokuro's running along a mushroom-ish brown and yellow field. I need to definitely share the image with you. It's just too darn cute! lol

2005 Hell Babies Journal, HB/Miznotic Fantasy Sets

These were just too cute to pass on! So I bought both both stationery sets plus the Hell Babies Journal!

Check em' out!

Publisher: Dark Horse

Released: February/2/2005

Journal: 5 1/2" X 8 1/2", spiral-bound journal, 128 pages

Hell Babies/Miznotic Fantasy Stationery Set Details: Each set includes 8 letter sheets (four different styles), 6 envelopes (4 different styles), and a set of stickers. Packages as a work of art itself with a printed belly-band all inside a poly bag.

Juxtaposing cute wide-eyed girls with bloody needles and skulls, Junko Mizuno has received great acclaim in recent years for her haunting manga style, sharp sensibility, and beautiful color work. Junko's kawaii noir (cutely dark) illustrations have appeared on T-shirts, in full-length graphic novels, and as figurines, among other things. Dark Horse is excited to further expand her merchandise line by offering stationery sets and a journal.

2004 Mizuno Friends

Today my Mizuno Friends *Kuma-San* (Bear-like pointy toothed creature) & *Buta-San* (Pig-like sausage armed beast) in 2 different colors arrived!!! These suckers are HUGE! The auction said 10"inches but they are more like 12". They are very overstuff and full of evil! *GRINZ* There's no room in my display case for them. With their arrival they had some news for me! There's MORE stuffed *Mizuno Friends* to collect. There's a CREEPY diapered big eyed baby like thingie called *MOOMIE*. Totally gives me the heebie-jeebies and I LOVE IT! lol... then there's the lumpy lover *PELU*. He's Mizuno's Gigilo from the 3 book series that's all about him. I went ahead and uploaded a pic from the tag. Must find em'! All the stuffies came with mark of Mizuno pendants. SO HAPPY with these!

Released: 11/16/2004

Moving *MIZUNO* posts over to here...

Well... just to seperate my collecting vs. my personal life, I've decided to open up this section of my blog just for my Mizuno rants.
